Yes you read that right!! I’ve been planning this series for weeks and I only finally decided to make it real and reach out to more ‘Bloggers of my time‘ , as I call fellow bloggers and content creators who are just blossoming😊 (like I am) so you can get to know them and explore some of their content!! I hope you enjoy this series and stay with me through it, as this is the first time I’d have someone else’s words in my posts!!
I stumbled across this blogger’s page through a friend of mine and after going through her blog, I’ve been hooked!! She’s so hilarious and accomodating and I bet you’d see that in her responses!!!
1) We would love to meet you! Tell us a few things about yourself.
I’m Amaka! I turned 20 recently, love jollof rice and spend a considerable amount of time hovering over coloured cardboard, arranging and re-arranging things – I just started my creative business, Studio Amaka. I co-own a brand called Elci Threads. I can’t cross major roads especially when it’s a round about, I usually ask some stranger to hold my hand (at my 20 years of age o, imagine) or try and blend in with a crowd of pedestrians as they cross. One of my favorite past times is eating roasted corn in a moving keke napep (tricycle/tuk-tuk) and choking, but I never learn.
2) Tell us about your blog and your blog niche.
My blog is my world! It’s a place where you can go for a bit of a laugh and some decent writing (shameless self plug). It’s a blog that carries my thoughts on life and reflections on the things that have happened in my life, as well as the occasional post on something I’m currently into – be it a tv show or a particular trend. I guess you could call it a Nigerian lifestyle blog. One thing for sure is that every post emanates from my mind – hence the name Mind of Amaka.
3) What inspired you to start a blog and how much time do you dedicate to blogging?
I have always loved writing like most people who are now bloggers, and I wanted an avenue and space to express myself. A whole space catered to me, designed the way I want and allowing for me to share my thoughts with the world, while also acting as a kind of portfolio for future writing opportunities. However, I find I generally like writing for my blog alone since I have much control. I’m greedy like that. I can’t put a specific time, but every day I do something blogging related, so the time is limitless. I enjoy It so much that I always want to do it.
4)Mention some of your favorite bloggers and what made them stand out to you?
Some of my favorite bloggers are Ifeoma Amadi of Draped in Basics & Ijenna Osuji of Mira La Belle. I have MANY blogs I read, but these people have been the most influential – the way they execute things, the way their minds work and their attention to aesthetics has been a major inspiration to me. I usually find it hard to have a favourite anything, but these ladies are definitely the bomb. Other bloggers with content I enjoy are Thonia Bankz, Joan Akob, Gift Collins & Oma Okpala of Oma Garden. I like people for different reasons – their candidness, style and aesthetics.
5) What can we find you doing when you are not blogging?
When I’m not blogging, I’m drowning under law textbooks and pre-class activities, and just moving through the motions of life. Nothing spectacular really – oh yeah, I take product photos! That has been the most recent addition to my routine, and I tell you, I’m loving it!
6)Anything else you’d like to add?? A quote or a tip for the readers??
I’d say don’t settle – always push to attain the next level. Even when you feel you’ve gotten to a certain level, keep striving for more. Even when people like your work, always try and see how you can keep doing better. Yet, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Understand that time is what we need – you won’t get to the top in a couple of hours. Keep working hard, keep practicing, keep researching. Find people that motivate you! Find people that lend you support when you need it! Also, don’t be afraid to take that first step! Ever!
And That’s The End Of the Interview!!! I hope you enjoyed her responses as much as I did!!
