This serum is mainly for the face but body discoloration is one area POC are well acquainted with, so I decided to test it out for a different purpose! I wanted to see if it works for body discoloration as well as it’s been acclaimed to work on the face!

The TIAM Vita B3 Source is a “high-performing double lightening serum” for brightening the skin’s overall appearance and it “fades dark spots and skin discoloration”.
The serum gets its name from its star ingredient, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and there’s a lot of emphasis on the high 10% concentration as well as the added 2% of Arbutin. It claims to “reduce excessive sebum production and correct uneven skin tone”. It’s also said to “minimize the appearance of dark spots and discoloration for a more radiant looking complexion”.

Ingredients
The main ingredients are the 10% Niacinamide and 2% Arbutin. It makes a dual combination that inhibits tyrosinase activity to reduce pigmentation, brighten the skin, fade dark spots and minimize sebum production and the appearance of pores.
Other highlighted ingredients are allantoin, sodium hyaluronate, lindera erythrocarpa extract and cornus officinalis fruit extract. Lindera erythrocarpa is an anti-oxidant that also helps with skin brightening, cornus officinalis improves the skin tone and allantoin helps to soothe the skin.
Overall, it features great ingredients and it’s also vegan and cruelty-free⭐.

HOW TO USE
Since this serum helps with improving the overall appearance of the skin, you can also use it all over the face. 1 or 2 drops is typically enough for the whole face and extra drops can be applied for targeted areas/spots.
However, since I was mainly using it for the body (outer thighs) with a larger surface area, I used several drops. It finished really quickly, less than 3 weeks I think.
First Thoughts & Impressions
The serum comes in a thick glass dark bottle, because Arbutin apparently turns brown over time and the bottle helps to reduce this effect. I think this is thoughtful as many might be skeptical about using the serum if it turns brown too quickly. However, it’s nothing to worry about and you can still use the serum even if it turned brown (mine never did).
It has a transparent and watery gel-like texture, but it didn’t absorb into the skin as quickly for me. I also didn’t really like the consistency, it felt a bit tacky and sticky. I know everyone raves about this serum but it’s not exactly one of my best trials. Like I said, I was mainly using it for the body and this might be why my experience is a bit different.
Some reviews also stated concerns about the product possibly causing breakouts. However, I didn’t experience any when I used it for my face. I also didn’t get any reactions on the body, neither did it cause any tingle/stings👍
Also, this might have been exclusive to mine but the product sealing was not properly secure. The dropper was too loose and it kept dripping, even without squeezing the head. This wasted the product a couple of times for me so I had to be cautious during application.
As for its effect on body discoloration, I’m inconclusive because it finished really quickly due to my usage and I wasn’t exactly consistent with daily use. Although I noticed some brightening, that was probably my imagination and it didn’t really give any noticeable effects.

Final Thoughts & Conclusions
It may not have produced very noticeable results but that’s understandable since the skin on the body is more tough and I only used a bottle. The tiny improvements might have been my imagination but I actually think it could help with body discoloration with more bottles and a more consistent use.
Will I recommend? Yes, it helps with sebum production so it’s a great choice for oily skin! Also, lots of reviews have shared its effectiveness on brightening the skin and fading spots on the face so it’s known to work for the face. However, if you’re like me and you want to give it a try for the body, I’d recommend getting like 3 bottles and using consistently to notice a difference.
Will I repurchase? Not at the moment. I have a couple of other brightening creams and serums I still need to try and review on their effectiveness for hyperpigmentation and body discoloration.
