As an oily acne-prone girlie, pimple/acne patches are some of the best skincare essentials I ever discovered! So far, I’ve used three different brands and I am currently hung on the ones from Pyunkang Yul and SOME BY MI.
The COSRX AC collection acne patch was my first ever pimple patch but it didn’t stick well or clean out the gunk. That made me think pimple patches were not so effective until I tried the Pyunkang Yul acne spot patch. It was so thin and stuck well to my skin. I also discovered that they stuck better with a freshly cleansed face and that sealed it for me. It became my go-to pimple patch until I decided to also try SOME BY MI, hence this review.
In this post, I’ll share details about both the Pyunkang Yul and SOME BY MI spot patches. I’ll also do a comparison so you can choose which might work best for you.

But first,
What are Acne/Pimple Patches?
If you are one of those that think “Do pimple patches even work?”, the answer is YES. It may depend on the brand but they most certainly work, you just need to find the right one.
Acne/pimple patches are sticky patches that help to heal pimples by cleaning them out and protecting the affected area. I like to think of them as pimple bandages because of the way they heal the skin by “closing” the area; they also prevent you from popping them (which causes further damage).
If you have acne-prone skin and you stumble upon this post, it’s your sign to jump on the spot patches train.

More Skincare Essentials:
About Pyunkang Super Thin Acne Spot Patch
As mentioned above, it’s a set of thin hydrocolloid patches that you can easily apply to pimples with heads and they help to clean out the pimples. This one comes in a set of 15 equal-sized small patches at a price range of $3 – $5.
Although they do not exactly prevent the area from turning dark, they heal the area well so no holes are left behind.

I initially got both the patches and spot cream as a set, and they worked really well for my acne. The patches were for pimples that already had “heads” while the spot cream was for budding pimples.

About SOME BY MI 30 Days Miracle Clear Spot Patch
It is part of the brand’s 30 Days Miracle line and works just like a typical hydrocolloid patch. It comes in a set of 18 patches, 9 of which are of 10mm while the other 9 are of a slightly bigger size. You can shop at a price range of $3 – $4.50 on platforms like Yesstyle and StyleKorean.

Comparing SOME BY MI 30 Days Miracle Clear Spot Patch and Pyunkang Yul Super Thin Acne Spot Patch
They both work the same way since they literally have the same ingredients. Still, there are some differences that might make you choose one over the other.
1) Size + Number of Patches
The Pyunkang Yul patches are 15 patches which are all 10mm. However, the one from SOME BY MI has 18 patches in total – 9 10mm and 9 12mm. I personally like how the latter has two different sizes to accommodate larger pimples but most times, I get small pimples so the bigger size seem like a waste lol.
If you typically get small pimples, you might like to have just the 10mm sizes but you can still use the bigger size.
My advice for anyone: just get both!
2) Price
The SOME BY MI patches are cheaper than Pyunkang Yul even though it has more patches (side eyeeee). However, they are still in a similar price range and one can cost less than the other depending on the retail platform or discount promotions.
Regardless, they both still cost less than the ones from COSRX (bigger side eyeeee).
3) Stickiness
They both stick soo well so there is not much of a difference. However, always make sure your skin is cleansed and use when you’ve not applied any products so they can stick well. You can carry out your routine after application and that won’t affect them.
They can also last the whole day but you should remove and replace them when you see the white gunk in the patch. When removing, make sure to remove slowly and gently (do not yank them!) so the area is not traumatised from the removal.

4) Visibility
They are both considered invisible but they do not blend sooo well with dark skin. There are some areas on the face that they can be barely seen but they are more prominent around the mouth area.
Conclusions
I honestly love pimple patches a lot so I’m always with at least 2 packs, I even use them when I get small “wounds” on my face. I may have also used them whenever I forcefully extract an annoying blackhead to heal the tiny but gaping “holes”👀.
Again, you can just get both so you do not have to decide lol.
Will I recommend? Yes, definitely! If you get different sized pimples, the one from SOME BY MI will be more suitable; if you only get smaller pimples, you can try the one from Pyunkang Yul. If you do not mind size and prefer cheaper + more patches, SOME BY MI is the way to go.
Will I repurchase? Absolutely! I currently even have 5 packs of SOME BY MI 😂 and I was previously using only Pyunkang Yul. You also get extra discounts on Yesstyle when you buy 2+ for either of the two.
That’s it for this post! Thank you for reading and I hope the reviews were helpful! You can use the links above to purchase all of them, don’t forget to use my discount code.
