I have been using the HARUHARU Wonder black rice cleanser for a while now, so it’s about time I did its full review. As someone with oily, acne-prone skin, you might think I always have to use cleansers with salicylic acid (or any other acne-fighting ingredients). The truth is I don’t!
In fact, one should always have gentle cleansers in your routine as well and I’m a fan of them. So for this particular cleanser, I’ll be sharing all you need to know, its notable ingredients and my overall thoughts.

About HARUHARU Wonder Black Rice Moisture 5.5 Soft Cleansing Gel
The HARUHARU Wonder cleansing gel is a mild gel cleanser formulated with ‘naturally-derived, coconut-extracted’ surfactants to ‘gently but thoroughly cleanse off dead skin cells and impurities’. It’s part of the brand’s Black Rice line, has a slightly acidic pH of 5.5, and is suitable for sensitive skin.
Fun fact: “Haruharu” basically translates to “every day” in Korean, and you can actually see that they focus on creating products that are mild, gentle but effective enough for daily use!

Ingredients
It contains 95% naturally-derived, EWG-verified ingredients and features fermented oryza sativa (rice) extract, potassium cocoate, potassium cocoyl glycinate, phyllostachys pubescens shoot bark extract, aspergillus ferment extract, to mention a few.
Black rice extract helps to retain moisture and nourish the skin, keeping it plumped and hydrated. Potassium cocoate and cocoyl glycinate are coconut-derived, non-irritating cleansing agents while shoot bark and aspergillus ferment extracts have soothing and brightening properties.
Another highlight ingredient is the panax ginseng root extract, derived from ginseng, a traditional Korean medicine known for its antioxidant properties.
It has several other interesting extracts, it was my first time coming across them and their benefits. Overall, it features great ingredients, and it’s cruelty-free, vegan-friendly and free from parabens. It’s also unscented, hence fragrance-free.⭐

First Thoughts & Impressions
If you are a regular reader, you know I’m a lover of pretty and product design and packaging. The product comes in a long, slim tube which feels sleek to touch, and easy to dispense. It also comes with a minimal outer packaging (the version I got as a sponsored product was more plain than the usual one).
Personally, I like the “smell”. My sister thinks the scent is a bit weird but I barely notice it. Even when I do, it’s more of a mild smell from one of the other ingredients so at this point, I can conclude that her sense of smell is warped🤣.
It has a transparent and gel-like but “gummy” texture, which doesn’t feel sticky or slimy upon application. I love how gentle it feels on the skin, and how it just gives a slight lather unless you really get into it.
It also doesn’t strip your skin and I like to use it on those days when I want a quick and gentle cleanse. I think it does a pretty good job as a mild cleanser and it can be used morning and night.
It’s quite affordable for its size, suitable for all skin types and gentle enough for sensitive skin.

Final Thoughts
Will I recommend? Yes, sure. I think it’s one of those cleansers you just enjoy using and a nice choice for anyone looking for a mild cleanser that’s gentle enough for sensitive skin.
Will I repurchase? Sometime in the future, yeah. I got it as a sponsored product and I like it enough to purchase it myself if I’m looking for something affordable for my mild cleanser stash.
